My Book

A powerful story of identity, resilience, and purpose — a voice rooted in culture, carried across continents and generations.

About the Book

Born in Casablanca, Mounia Aram grew up in Trappes. From an early age, she developed a curious and clear-eyed view of the world around her. It was through improvisational performance that she discovered her first space of freedom — a raw, unscripted playground where she could express herself, experiment, and find her voice without constraint. A formative revelation.

Rejecting preordained paths, Mounia carved her life step by step. From improv stages to the world of fashion, and from fashion to animated film production, she forged her place beyond conventional frameworks. Each chapter was an act of resistance, a conscious choice to chart her own course despite obstacles, family silences, or social expectations.

Today, Mounia Aram is a powerful voice on international stages. A producer, cultural entrepreneur, speaker, and mentor, she works across continents — from Brazil to South Africa, from the United States to Morocco — advocating for representation, equality, inclusion, and social impact through media and culture.

Her book, Route détournée. De l’ombre à la lumière., is a bold and deeply personal memoir. She traces her singular journey: the fractures, the breaks, the departures, the disillusionment… but also the moments of clarity, momentum, and triumph — all forged through courage and self belief. She speaks openly about identity, womanhood, inner freedom, and rebirth. With honesty, depth, and a fierce desire to pass on what she has learned.

Recipient of the Black in Animation Award, board member of Diversify TV, collaborator with the Geena Davis Institute for Gender in Media, and mentor for Women in Animation, Mounia is a changemaker who shines a light on paths too often overlooked.
She was recently featured on CNN’s African Voices Changemakers, a vibrant tribute to her journey, vision, and impact.

This book is the story of a free woman. A pioneer. A luminous survivor. And a builder of futures.
